The incidents that have been happening for the last 15-20 days has been one of the biggest turning points in modern Bangladesh history. The 15 year dictatorial, autocratic government of Sheikh Hasina ended on 5th of August. The students once again showed that with unity, we can form resistance against the unjust. As the country is now starting to enter a new phase, an important question arises.
Erpor ki?(What’s next?)
My opinion on what can be done next for the country’s welfare are stated below:-
● Government should be formed with a fair, free, unbiased and legal electoral voting system.
● Basic rights of general people should be restored. All able and officials should work together for this to be accomplished.
● Freedom of speech, thought and opinion needs to be ratified for all and none should be harassed or punished for speaking out about any wrongdoings of the government officials.
● Representatives for students should be introduced in the parliament so that the voices of students are heard.
● The cultural aspect of the country has been one of the most important participants for providing inspiration to people of the country in the spirit of nationalism. So I suggest the culture of all irrespective of race, religion, caste, creed, ethnicity etc should be recognised and treated with utter respect and honor.
● One of the things I have seen in the past couple of years of the BAL regime is rapid development of infrastructure to the point where these construction works have been more important than the poverty and malnutrition that the poor people are suffering. My opinion is to provide importance to the poor and lower middle class people who are struggling to meet their needs though working all day. They are the backbone of our country.
● As like the point stated before, this point also focuses on the sense of equality. The dream of a country where the children of a rich background and poor background holding hands and being friends have always been lurking in our minds. Reduction of inequality in the society needs to happen for a harmonious and peaceful country.
● Education is a principal matter for a developed and innovative country. A realistic, informative, strong and proper education system should be introduced where books will contain real and fair information and designed in such a way that the students enjoy reading
the books and studying them. The books should also be constructed so that it connects the students with the internet and encourages them to learn more about a particular concept. Now, the system should also be so that the rural, impoverished students can also be
advantaged with it.
● Lastly, I want Bangladesh to be a country that values human rights and their lives. Corruption needs to be totally eradicated.
We still have a lot of work to do to create a better, peaceful and innovative country and this is just the beginning. Us gen-z, millennials and gen-alpha brave fighters have proved what we can do when we unite. We freed the country and now it's time to protect its independence.
